About Me:

My love for movement and dance began at 5 years old when I enrolled in my first ballet class. Dancing throughout my school years, it was only a matter of time before I began my yoga journey. I have been practising for 35 years.

In another life and a former career, I graduated with a Masters in Early Childhood and Montessori teaching from NYU. In 2005, I travelled back to New York City to study Kids Yoga, and returned to Sydney to start KarmaKidsYoga, now The Karma Class.

I created Fun with a Twist - Kids Yoga Teacher Training - for adults who want to learn how to teach kids yoga, and our amazing team of teachers bring kids yoga classes to early childhood and primary schools during school terms.

I am deeply passionate about bringing Yoga - and all its gifts - into the classroom and believe that early intervention is key to stemming the growing mental health crisis amongst our youth. Since 2016, I have been leading Professional Development workshops for early childhood and primary teachers. A Karma Classroom gives teachers tools and an experiential understanding of how to easily and simply weave Yoga, Breath and Mindfulness into every school day using our Karma Classroom Activity Cards. Gifts for themselves and their students!

JustBreatheYoga is a yoga hub for adults of all ability and body type. I offer privates, small group classes in people’s homes or offices, retreats and online classes. I also teach at BodyMindLife, This is Yoga and The Living Room in Sydney.

I feel deeply blessed to have yoga be such a huge part of my life - it reigns me in when my edges fray -  and I'm particularly blessed to share my love for yoga, and all its gifts, with you.

Since 2013, I have been inspired by the powerful intelligence of Ana Forrest and Forrest Yoga sequencing. As a Forrest Yoga teacher, I am acutely aware of how different the style of teaching is to the current frenzy of flow and 'gym yoga'.

The 4 pillars of Forrest Yoga - Breath, Strength, Integrity and Spirit - are deeply woven into the way we are trained, and the way we teach. Forrest Yoga slows things down, giving time for muscles to heat and energy to build so that your practice is safe, you build stamina and strength, and, most importantly, you have time to feel and to nourish your spirit.

YOGA FOR YOU

Bessel van der Kolk, in his book The Body Keeps the Score, compassionately and comprehensively explains how the brain, mind and body are inextricably linked in internalising trauma and ultimately in the healing process. The practice of Forrest Yoga creates space and spaciousness in your body so that healing happens from deep within, on a cellular, energetic, emotional and physical level.

In a yoga world that seems to be dominated by Insta famous yogis, who are "perfectly" shaped (whatever that means) and twisted into a pretzel unattainable to most humans, I often wonder how intimidating it must feel to those who would like to be on the mat and yet don't feel good enough/thin enough/flexible enough to join a yoga studio. It's not the yoga world I care to be a part of.

Creating and holding space for yogis of all ages, shapes and abilities is my 'truth teaching'. I believe that yoga is for ‘every body’, and am committed to guiding my students mindfully through their practice, to ensure that you honour your body – its strengths and weaknesses – to prevent injury, and so build stamina, balance and inner calm.

If studio classes don't appeal, chat to me about working privately so that you can receive exactly what you need or join the online platform.

Since 2008, I have been offering much loved Goddess Retreats both within Australia and overseas. These have been loved by many women of all ages.  You can hear from them and see our photos on our Facebook Retreat Page.

And for everything Kids Yoga, please visit The Karma Class!

I look forward to meeting you on the mat (or off) and to sharing my very deep love and reverence for this extraordinary practice we call Yoga!

Glomad Interview:

Last time I saw Beth Borowsky she had me dripping head to toe in sweat. I was amongst a packed room of regular Friday afternoon Bondi yogis on the same flow-inspired ride, connecting to breath, awaiting her next graceful asana instruction. This South African born, Sydney-loving yoga teacher has a reputation as one of the finer Vinyasa instructors around town.

Currently Borowsky is on mission to re-define the essence of her teaching philosophy thanks to a recent workshop in New York… 2 hrs that has completely changed her approach to practice and teaching. Read more...
